About Little Britain Creative Crapola's Videos Page

Arguably the most popular features of this fair site, this page is about them.  Have you not guessed yet, the videos.  So, with other 15 videos on the site for you to watch again and again, I thought now was a good time to write a little bit about why the hell video edits!

Why the Hell Video Edits?

Well it started many years ago, well about beginning of 2004 and I had downloaded version two of Microsoft Movie Maker.  I hadn't got a video camera or something like that to acquire footage to edit, so instead, I edited any video footage I had on my hard disk.  Below are two examples of the edits I made pre-LBCC days (can you imagine a time without this site?)

Derren "It's the end of the world" Brown (932KB)

Tom Jones and the Matrix (1MB)

It was with these Video edits, that I began to pick up how to use Movie Maker, how best to make videos and basically learn what ever the hell I know to make my current Video edits.

So with my love of Little Britain, I decided what other way could I express this love, other than proposing to Matt or David, than to make Little Britain Video edits!  My first effort was the Seb'n'PM video.  I made this video a while before this very site was launched, so this treasure of crapola was left undiscovered by the Little Britain Pirates.  Isn't that a beautifully crapola metaphor?

My next video edit was my first spoof trailer, why the hell spoof trailers you may ask?  Well I could lie and pretend it was a creative idea, but basically I downloaded a copy of the Day after tomorrow trailer which was in the .wmv format, I thought why not edit this trailer in Movie Maker, better yet, use Little Britain clips, and so the idea for spoof trailers was born.  My baby was born and Little Britain and the day after tomorrow was launched.  And it was from there on when I read such positive comments for the video that my site grew and grew.

Any tips for my own Video edits?

Flattering isn't it? Now other Little Britain sites have started creating Video edits, I myself think it's great that other sites are trying something different with their sites, other than offering Character profiles and some standard video clips, here are some tips from someone who should know something about making them (me!) for those of you who are making them!

1. Use short clips, avoid clips longer than 5 seconds.  This way your video edit will have a nice pace.  If people wanted to watch the whole sketch, they would watch the DVD, instead your video edit should just be a mixture of clips, don't worry if it doesn't make much sense!

2. Experiment by muting some clips.  We don't need to hear all the sound from the clips, sometimes using a clip can work better by using no sound such as in clips with movement in.

3. Keep credits simple, just use a picture of your logo at the end of the video so as people know where the video is from, there's no need for half the video to be made up of Credits!

There's my tips, hopefully you found them useful, please do feel free to email LBCC to ask for my opinion on your video.  Good Bike!
